Chikkamagaluru DySP charged of kidnapping a financier
Bengaluru: The Chikkamagaluru Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalappa Handibag has been charged with kidnap of a financier here. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered against him following a complaint from the victim, Thejas H M.
On June 28, the 37-year-old financier, a resident of Kempanahalli here was kidnapped by six men from right in front of his house at around 2 am and was kept captive in an old warehouse.
As per reports, it is allegedy said that Thejas was asked to pay a randsom of Rs 25 lakh but later negotiated it to Rs 10 lakh. As directed by the kidnappers, it was one of Thejas’ friend Shivu who delivered the money to a person at the Police Quarters behind Mathias Tower on IG Road. Thejas was later freed.
However, Thejas and his friends investigated the mobile number, which revealed that the mobile number was registered to DySP Handibag and that he had received the payment.
Handibag and other accused -- Naveen Shetty, Abhijith, Nataraja and Khandya Praveena are absconding.
A case has been registered and the investigations are on.
