Man from Chikkamagaluru arrested for stealing ring, cash from relatives’ house
Mangaluru: In an incident reported, a man from Chikkamagaluru stole a diamond ring and cash when he was on a visit to his relative’s house in the city. He was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody.
The accused has been identified as Yunus Ahmed (36), a tea and coffee estate owner. Police sources said that he used to visit the city regularly and stay in his relative’s house.
It is said that he had come to the city for medical treatment and spent the night in the relative’s house. There he stole a diamond ring worth Rs 14 lakh and Rs 40,000 worth cash.
The relatives realized that the ring and cash was missing only after Yunus left. He had reportedly stolen UK pounds and had managed to convert it into Rupees.
A complaint was filed and when the police realized that Yunus has visited the house, they went to Chikkamagaluru and questioned him. He then confessed to the theft.
