Karnataka’s Excise Minister in soup for allegedly demanding sexual favours
Bengaluru: Days after Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait was caught allegedly watching some sleazy clippings on his mobile, another senior minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government has now been accused of seeking sexual favours from a woman employed in the Ayush department.
The person in question is Excise Minister H Y Meti.
However, the Minister and the woman have denied the allegations saying that their relationship was like that of a father and daughter.
It is said that an RTI activist approached the police saying that a few people claiming to be supporters of the Minister had threatened him as they thought that he had a video of the Minister and the woman involved in a relationship. The activist demanded that action be taken against those who threatened him. The activist said that someone had shown him the video and that he did not have it in his possession.
Meanwhile, the Minister denied charges and said that the woman was his relative. He also said that his supporters had not threatened any RTI activist.
The police have decided to look into the RTI activist’s complaint and then take appropriate action.
Addressing the media, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he was aware of the matter and would react only after receiving relevant information.
