Kaikamba-The celebration of Diwali ,’The festival of lights’ came alive at Our Lady of Pompei English Medium School, Kaikamba  when the whole school wore a festive look with Diyas and lanterns adorning the corridors and the assembly hall in bright colours. Mr. Walter Stephen Mendes , President , Bharathmatha Educational and Charitable Trust(regd.) ,Mrs. Florence Mendes , Correspondent , Our Lady of Pompei and Mr. AnanthKrishna Kamath , PTA President  were the guests for the day. A prayer song, sung by the students of the school marked the beginning of the program. The Headmaster Mr. Mahesh Shetty in his address welcomed the guests, Headmistress Mrs.Swarnalatha, Teaching and non teaching staffs, Parents and all the students to the occasion. The guests lit the lamp to begin the programme on the auspicious occasion.

Mrs. Florence Mendes, during her speech enlightened the staff and student with the message of Diwali saying the light within us must help to dispel the darkness and spread love, warmth and kindness as well as in giving and sharing.

Mr. AnanthKrishna Kamath spoke few words on the occasion.Two Students Miss Samrah and Mr.Niskarsh  talked about the significance of the festival - how good always conquered the evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across India. Besides sensitizing students to the ill-effects of crackers, they also shared the guidelines on being safe while bursting them.

Mr Walter Stephen Mendes expressed his joy to be part of the great occasion in his Presidential speech and gave a  meaningful message of a clean, peaceful and a bright Diwali.Mr. Mendes highlighted the importance of cultural activities and concluded wishing everyone on the occasion of Diwali.

Prizes were distributed for the winners of various competitions.

Programme was concluded by Mrs.Veena by expressing her Vote of thanks.

The cultural celebration began with a small skit depicting the story of Diwali. The Cultural Programme was followed by group dance , solo dance, group song etc. The cultural programme was compered by Miss.Apeksha.The happy and smiling faces of children spread the light of joy in the hearts of the viewers.  It also gave a very important message that True Diwali spirit means sharing our things with poor, who do not have means to celebrate this festival.


Sweets were distributed to all the students, parents and teachers present.
