Kaikamba:Children’s Day was celebrated at Our Lady of Pompei English Medium School with enthusiasm.  It was a fun-filled day for students of the School. Chief guest of the event were Walter Stephen Mendes , President , Bharathmatha Educational and Charitable Trust(regd.) ,Mrs. Florence Mendes , Correspondent , St.Lawrence Indian School-CBSE Kinnigoly and Mr.Vinay , PTA Treasurer. The guests lit the lamp to begin the programme on the auspicious celebration. Mrs.Rashmitha in her address welcomed the guests, Headmaster Mr. Mahesh Shetty, Headmistress Mrs.Swarnalatha, Teaching and non teaching staffs, Parents and all the students to the occasion.

Walter Stephen Mendes expressed his joy to be part of the great event and spoke on how children become the happiness of the society as well as future of the country. He also mentioned that we cannot ignore their involvement and contribution in the life of parents, teachers and other related people all through the life. He concluded saying that this day is celebrated every year to pay tribute to all the children all over the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Florence Mendes mentioned the various ways the children are being abused in our nation by their family members, relatives, neighbours or other strangers. She highlighted that Children’s day celebration must remind us the importance of the children in the family, society and country. She concluded by mentioning few rights of children.

Prizes were distributed for the winners of various competitions.

Programme was concluded by Mrs.Clavia by expressing her Vote of thanks.

Various games were conducted for the students. The Cultural Programme was followed by group dance , solo dance, group song etc. The cultural programme was compered by Miss.Apeksha. The happy and smiling faces of children spread the light of joy in the hearts of the viewers.
