Youth tortured by father, handed over to Police

Beltangady, January 12: Annappa was founded by some Ayyappa devotees, with whom he reached Dharmasthala on Sunday, January 11. Due to the torture and shock, he had gone through the youth has become dumb.

Annappa (21) son of Siddarth Aiyar from Shantinagara in Aldur taluk of Chikmagalur district. His mother who had passed away when he was two years old, his father got married for the second time thereafter the boy, who grew up as an orphan, completed BBM degree course from National College, Bengaluru. Later, he joined the famous Goddess Annapoorneshwari Temple at Horanadu in Chikmagalur district as a computer operator. His family came to know this a few months back, after which they took the boy home.

The youth went through untold miseries at his house. As he was given electric shocks at home there he lost the capacity to speak. He was admitted to an orphanage at Whitefield, Bengaluru. His father and some relatives of his mother took him to Lord Kalasewhara Temple in Kalasa on January 6, where he was made to adopt austerities connected with Ayyappa pilgrimage. After taking him to Sabarimala, Annappa was left behind by his father and close ones. Annappa, contacted the information office at Sabarimala, after which the office staff sent him back in the company of a group of Ayyappa devotees from Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district.

On its return journey the group had visited various temples and places of pilgrimage. On Sunday January 11 they reached Dharmasthala. The group met Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, and the Ayyappa devotees went to police outpost at Dharmasthala and handed Annappa.
