Nephews murder uncle in alleged property dispute case

Belthangady: In a shocking incident of property dispute, two men allegedly murdered their uncle at his house near Venur on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Sunder Moolya (55), while the accused Dayananda (32) and Sathish (37) are absconding.

Sources say that Sathish met Sunder at shop and asked for some money. But the duo soon began arguing as Sunder refused to give the money. Sathish then attacked his uncle, but Sunder managed to run to his house. Soon after, Sathish and his brother Dayananda arrived at Sunder’s house when he was home alone. A fight ensued and Sunder collapsed after receiving a slap.

At about 9.15 pm, Dayananda informed Sunder’s wife Sujatha via phone that Sunder had collapsed on the road and he was brought home, but collapsed again in the compound. Sujatha arrived only to find her husband’s body lying outside the house. The nephews remained in the house the next morning when relatives came to pay last respects to Sunder, but as soon as the police arrived they managed to escape and switched off their phones.

Sujatha told the police that the nephews often quarrelled with Sunder regarding the property and they had also threatened him several times.
