Tulunadu celebrates regional festival Kesrugedde


Udupi: Heavy Rains and shaggy monsoon did not stop the people of Tulunadu from taking part in the regional festival Kesrugedde held here on Sunday in Alevoor.

The event was organized under the aegis of Ganeshotsava Samiti, Guddeangadi, Alevoor, Karnataka state youth services, empowerment and sports department, Udupi and the zilla panchayat.

Kesrugedde is a regional festival of Tulunadu celebrated during the monsoons. It is celebrated for the people to take a break from their hectic schedule. During the event, the fields are covered with water and people play in it. Usually, during the celebrations, people both children and adults from nearby villages gather to be part of the event.

Thrupthi, a fellow resident said that the celebration completed 11 years this year; she also added that every year the participation of the people has been increasing.

The event which began in the morning was addressed by Pramod Madhwaraj, youth and Fishery minister of the state.

About 200 of them were registered for the event. Regional Food, Ganji and pickle, was served by the organisers of the event for all the 200 people.

Many games including tug of war, nano pyramid and running race were conducted for people of all age groups and prizes were given away to the winners.

Though it rained many times people did not stop from having fun. In fact Rain added colour to the whole event.
