Niranjan Bhat’s CID custody extended by two days

Karkala: The CID police took Niranjan Bhat to his house at Nandalike and conducted inquiries regarding the Homa Kunda, the spot where Bhaskar Shetty’s body was allegedly burnt. However, the media was kept away from the spot.

Bhat was also taken to the river side at Adakyar and Kuntadi Kalkaru where Shetty’s remains were allegedly dumped.

The CID had applied for extending Bhat’s custody for another five days, but the court granted an extension of only two days. It is said that Bhat was suffering from high blood pressure and so only two days was granted. The court has also ordered medical treatment for any of Bhat’s health problems.

Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra, two other accused in the case had also applied for bail, but it was rejected. They then applied in the District Main Sessions Court. The Public Prosecutor requested a week to file objections for granting bail and so the court granted time till September 24.

All the five accused in the case will be produced in court on September 19.
