Petrol dealers to launch protest in 3 phases from October 19

Members of Karnataka State Federation of Petroleum Dealers will hold a three-phase statewide protest seeking fulfilment of their demands mainly the revision of the dealers’ profit margin.
In the first phase, on October 19 and 26, the dealers will stop the sale of petroleum products for 15 minutes from 7pm to 7.15pm. In the second phase on November 3, the dealers will stop the purchase of petroleum products from oil marketing companies. In the third phase on November 15, the federation has decided to stop both purchase and sale of petroleum products. K Vishwas Shenoy, general secretary of the federation, told reporters that as per the Apoorva Chandra committee report, the federation wants the revision of dealers’ margin every six months. In a meeting that took place on October 5 in New Delhi, Ajay Bansal, president Akhil Bharat Petroleum Dealers Association, said that the demands would be met, he said.
The other demand of the dealers is related to proper blending of ethanol and petrol from oil companies before supplying it to the dealers. There are 5,000 petroleum outlets in Karnataka. All these outlets will stop purchasing petroleum products from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Bharat Petroleum Ltd., he added.
