Pharmacy teachers convention at Manipal from October 14-16
The 21st national convention of the Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India - APTICON 2016- will be held under the aegis of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), Manipal University from October 14 to 16. The convention coincides with the golden jubilee of APTI started by leading luminaries of pharmacy education in India ML Shroff and GP Srivastava in Benaras.The theme of the convention is---Roadmap for Quality Pharmacy Education and Research. "MCOPS has been ranked No.1 pharmacy college in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of Union human resource ministry," said Dr N Udupa, director of research (health sciences), Manipal University.
The convention begins with a pre-conference workshop, where Dr K Ramnarayan, vice president Faculty Development Alumni Relations, Dr Sudhakar Nayak and Dr Ciraj of Manipal Centre for Professional Development (MCPD) will provide valuable inputs to the young pharmacy teachers to hone their teaching skills. There will be a symposium on research publications.
The formal inauguration will be held on October 14. Dr Ramdas M Pai, chancellor, Manipal University will be the chief guest. Dr A Ramkishan, deputy drugs controller, CDSCO, New Delhi & B T Khanapure, drugs controller, Karnataka, will be the guests of honour.
The teachers who have made immense contribution in pharmacy teaching will be felicitated with best pharmacy teacher of the year, best young pharmacy teacher of the year, life time achievement award and others. On the second day, scientific sessions will be held to present the research work of faculty and their students. Eminent pharmacy teachers of the country will be honoured. The convention will conclude on Sunday. Dr Mallikarjun Rao, principal, MCOPS was present.
