Udupi: In an incident reported, a daughter was found lying still besides the dead and decomposed body of her father since last five days.

The locals grew suspicious after a foul smell started emanating from the house in Bailoor NGO colony where the father-daughter duo resided. Also the lights were seen burning since that last five days and both of them had not come out from the house so the locals entered the house by breaking the door and found two bodies on the floor. While initially it was presumed that both of them were dead the daughter was still breathing.

The deceased person is Anantha Poojary (65) and the survivor is his daughter Vinutha (32). She has been admitted to Manipal hospital.

Their relative Sadashiva Poojary informed about the matter to social worker Ambalapady Vishu Shetty who came along with police. It is told that due to bad smell, they were not able to go inside the house and had to spray perfume in order to enter the house.

Anantha Poojary was employed in the forest department and had settled in the colony after his retirement. His wife had expired two years ago. Vinutha was also residing with him after her divorce.

The real cause of Anantha Poojary’s death and what happened to Vinutha are yet to be ascertained. It is suspected that father might have collapsed and died and shocked by the incident Vinutha might have lost her consciousness. A post-mortem report will reveal the facts. The house was bolted from inside and this matter created suspicion.

The dead body of Anantha has been kept at the morgue of district hospital, Udupi. Vinutha is undergoing treatment in ICU at Manipal hospital.
