Pub attack: Court abates charges against two; next hearing on Nov 9
Mangaluru: The second Judicial Magistrate First Class Court has abated cases against two accused in the 2009 pub attack case in the city following their deaths.
Ashwin and Praveen were among the 31 people against whom a chargesheet had been filed by police. However, the court has abated their names from the case following their recent death.
Those accused in the case include Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Mutalik and Advocate Dinakar Shetty; they have been accused of supporting the assaulters. Subhash Padil, prime accused in the home stay attack in July 2012 is also named an accused in the case. Charges under Sections 354 (assault), 505 (circulation of false statement intended to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code have been booked against them.
The next hearing of the case has been slated for November 9.
