Meet convened to discuss proposed multi-level car park at Hampankatte
Mangaluru: With proposals being made to construct a multi-level car park-cum-commercial complex at the old service bus stand, Hampankatta, Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo, held a meeting on Monday to discuss the project. This was one of the many meetings that will be held with regard to the project.
Sources say that the project would come up on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Officials from the Mangaluru City Corporation were also present for the meeting.
It is learnt that in July 2014, the MCC withdrew the project given to the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) as the latter had not made efforts for turning the project into a reality. Moreover, of the 215.50 cents land available at the proposed site, MCC owns 155 cents while the remaining 60.50 cents, belongs to three people and houses five buildings.
MLA Lobo informed that the MCC had sought help from the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) and it would be consulted on design, finance and implementation aspects.
Meanwhile, JR Lobo said that plans were being made to have a modern central market building and both the issues would be discussed in the next meeting scheduled for November 7.
