10-day Karavali Utsav to begin from December 23
Mangaluru: District level Karavali Utsav will be held from December 23 to January 1 at Mangala Stadium in the city and programmes should be organised in view of the rich cultural heritage of Karavali, said District Incharge Minister Ramanath Rai in a meeting held at District Collector office on Tuesday. The event will be inaugurated at Kadri in the city on December 23.
Speaking to the officials here MLA J R Lobo said that the exhibitions scheduled to be held as part of the festival shouldn’t be limited for business, trade and other purposes, instead the entire exhibition must exhibit rich culture of Tulu Nadu and major achievements of the district in various fields. He reiterated the need to showcase some of the major tourist attractions like Pilikula in the fest.
14 committees have been constituted for the smooth conduct of the festival. In addition to this, taluk level committees have also been constituted in every taluk of the district.
District collector, Dr. K G Jagadeesh informed the media that a Kambala will be held at Pilikula as part of the Utsav. High court has already granted its permission for the conduct of Kambala. A separate Kambala committee will be set up for organising the event and the date will be announced later on.
Beach, Youth Fest
A beach fest will be organised from December 30 to January 1 at Panambur beach while a youth fest has also been organised December 24 and 25 at Pilikula. Various cultural events are expected to be held as part of the youth fest.
