Protection, Conservation of Cow varieties is need of hour: Dr Subramanian Swamy
Mangaluru: Rajya Sabha MP, senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy opined that, “protection of cows, their varieties, revival of Sanskrit language is essential to protect rich heritage of our country." He was speaking on Sunday at Kuluru ground in the city at Mangala Goyathre Mahamangala conducted as part of a nation wide journey organised to create awareness among the people on the significance of protection and conservation of cow varieties in India.
The journey was reached Mangalauru after 81 days long journey crossing various locations of the country. The procession like journey was organised by Ramachandrapura Seer Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi.
Subramanian Swamy congratulated Ramachandrapura Mutt seer for conducting such a historic journey in the country as it succeeded to create awareness among the people on conservation and protection cows and their varieties.
Meanwhile, Dr Swamy urged the union government to implement law to abolish cow slaughter in India immediately. He noted the fact that, Mahatma Gandhi, India’s constitution maker Dr BR Ambedkar had strongly advocated protection of cows. "Previous union government had been providing subsidy for the export cow meat from India to other countries. However, present government has stopped it," Dr Swamy added.
The programme was organised at Kuluru ground in the city. More than 1300 saints from various parts of the country participated for the first time in the history of Mangaluru at a function. Exhibitions showcasing cow varieties, rural life style, ancient techniques used to produce commodities like jaggery and others were also been arranged on the occasion.
As many as 1.5 lakh people participated in the mega event whereas more than 1 lakh people took lunch with delicious dishes. Spiritual programmes, seminars were also held as part of the event. Ramachandrapura Seer Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi, RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakara Bhat, Nitte University Vice Chancellor Vinay Hegde and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
