Belthangady based youth stranded in Uganda with wife, 3 children; cries for help
Belthangady: A youth from Panakaje of Belthangady taluk (Karnataka State), Abdul Rashid (33), elder son of Mohammed Shafi has stranded at the capital city of African country Uganda along with his family as he has involved in a court case. He is awaiting for help as his family has been struggling to get proper food for months.
Rashid had been working for a private company in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda for the last 6 years. Last year, he was attacked and robbed by a group of people while returning to his residence after office hours. The robbers allegedly took records and money belong to the company where Rashid woks.
However, his company filed a police complaint stating, Rashid has stolen the company money and records. After an inquiry, he was sent jail on last July and was released on bail in December 2016. At present is residing in Kampala along with his family without getting basic necessities including proper food and water. In another shock, he is not allowed to work in Uganda as his case is under trail and this has forced him to remain jobless in his residence along with his wife and three children.
Indian government has communicated the issue with Ugandan high commissioner. However, the Ugandan government informed the Indian government that Rashid has been considered as an accused and the case is under trail. Subsequently, the Ugandan officials refused to take any further action on him and his case.
Meanwhile, the members of Karnataka Sangha met the company where Rashid worked. The company asked to pay Rs 15 lakh to withdraw the case filed against him. The company had stated in its complaint that Rashid was stolen Rs 5 lakh.
In his village, Panakaje, Mohammed Shafi is retired laborer and father of 4 sons and three daughters. He is residing in a rented house at Panakaje along with his two unmarried daughters and one son. Rashid was married to Nigeria based Somalian lady in Uganda. He has 5 and 3 year old daughters and one year old male child.
