Mayor Raids Massage Parlours and Skill Games Centres in the city

Mangaluru: Mayor Kavitha Sanil raided massage parlors and skill games centers in various places across the city here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media Mayor said, “Many skills game centers have been running illegally without a trade license. Many youth spoil their lives wasting their money at such places.”

Mayor further said that some Ayurveda centers are running illegal massage parlours in the city and that they have raided a few now but will raid all such illegal centres across the city.

At first, the MCC team raided the Olive Leaf Ayurvedic Therapy Centre at Bejai and rescued two girls from there. Then moved to raid Paradise unisex beauty spa at Jyothi , but was closed. Later they moved on to Green Valley unisex salon near the Collector’s Gate in Balmatta, followed by Royal Spa at Jyothi, which was also closed.

Mayor said, “The police only catch hold of those who do not wear helmets, jump the red signal or violate traffic rules. They do not raid such places where illegal activities are being carried out. I have informed the police to come to Falnir Members Lounge since the owner of the skill games center was very rude and adamant to come out of the shop. Even after 45 minutes now, the police have not reached the spot which is a sad part of policing. I will wait till the police come to shut the illegal skill game centre”.

Sujitha Rai, Owner of the Members Lounge at Falnir said, “We have the supreme courts order to run the skill game centre. We dont need any trade license for this. We will continue our business and we will not shut down the centre at any reason.”

Sujitha further said, “Last time when the ACP has raided my centre I had filed a case. Today the Mayor has come to stop me from running my skill games centre. I am sending Rs 2 lakh to the concerned police station every month, the police cannot do anything to me. For any reason, I will not shut down my business.”

ACP Shruthi was called to the spot, who made her leave and the skill games centre was forcibly shut
