Deepavali Celebration

 Kinnigoli-St. Lawrence Indian School-CBSE Kinnigoli wore a festive air as the Diwali Festival was celebrated. Mr. Walter Stephen Mendes , President , Bharathmatha Educational and Charitable Trust(regd.) ,Mrs. Florence Mendes , Correspondent , St.Lawrence Indian School-CBSE Kinnigoly and Mrs. Shaila Rego , PTA Vice-President were the guests for this programme. The guests inaugurated the programme by lightening the lamp accompanied by the Principal Mrs.Jayasudha, Vice-Principal Mrs.Devaki , SPL and ASPL of the school.

A prayer song, sung by the students of the school marked the beginning of the program. Mrs.Vasudha, in her address welcomed the guests, Principal ,Vice Principal, teaching and non teaching staffs, Parents and all the students to the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Walter Stephen Mendes mentioned that Diwali is a festival of happiness celebrated by people of all cultures in India and also that it is a celebration which signifies the victory of light over darkness. He expressed his joy to be part of the great occasion. Mr. Mendes mentioned the importance of both academics and cultural activities and concluded wishing everyone on the occasion of Diwali.

Mrs. Florence Mendes, during her speech highlighted the meaning of Diwali which means row of lights . She emphasized that Diwali is the festival of rich or poor- even the hut of poor or the big mansions of the rich are seen with twinkling of small earthen diyas (lamps) where all welcome the wealth and prosperity. Finally she ended up giving a  small message of Diwali  that to get over the darkness of loss and failures, we have to light up the lamps of prosperity and to light up the lamps of true knowledge , we have to get rid the darkness of ignorance’s.

Programme was concluded by Mrs.Shubha by expressing her Vote of thanks.

Students showcased their talent in a scintillating cultural programme-Cultural extravaganza. The Cultural Programme during the occasion witnessed the best talents from the students giving a variety of high octane performances which included group dance of various states, solo dance, group song etc. The cultural programme was compered by Miss.Ashwitha Shetty.
