Saha looks to keep good run going

The wicket-keeper batsman, who enjoys playing attacking shots, said the confidence from the Test series, where he hit two centuries in 10 matches, will help him in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Saha, who was bought by Kings XI Punjab in 2014, has been a regular feature in the side. Although flexible in batting order, Saha, who scored 270 runs from 12 matches in last IPL, prefers to bat higher up the order. The Twenty20 format, he feels, allows him to freely display his attacking instincts.

“I have always been a bit attacking batsman. In Tests sometimes you can do that, sometimes not. There are times in Tests when I want to hit the ball but the situation doesn’t allow. I have to play according to the needs of the team. In T20, I can be more expressive. It will help me play more shots,” Saha said during an interaction.
“I like to bat at the top of the order but it depends on the team management where they want to use me.”

Saha was the fourth-highest run-scorer this home season and hoped to take his form into IPL. “When you perform well, you naturally get the confidence. Yes, the Test series has given me a lot of confidence and I would like to carry the same for Kings XI Punjab.”

Despite an acrimonious series against Australia, Saha had no problem playing under the captaincy of Glenn Maxwell. "What happened was in the past now. This is a new tournament. It’s early for me to gauge his captaincy, but he is always positive during the trainings. He told me just the other day that a wicket-keeper’s view in twenty20 is very important and would like me to contribute. I enjoy doing that,” he said.
