Bangladesh produced a magnificent performance as they knocked New Zealand out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 with a sensational five-wicket win. With this result, Bangladesh not only stay in contention to qualify for the semi-finals but it has increased pressure on Australia ahead of their clash against England. Over in Group B, the race for the play-offs is intense with all four teams, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan still in the fray. The last two games between India vs South Africa and Sri Lanka vs Pakistan are quarterfinals and the winner will go through.

Here is what Steve Smith’s side have to do in order to secure qualification.

Group A

1) England

M - 2, W - 2, L - 0, Points: 4

Matches remaining: vs Australia (June 10)

What they must do: England remain the only team to have qualified for the play-offs. A win against Australia will give them tremendous confidence. If they lose, they are still assured of a top spot as their Net Run-Rate of 1.069 is the best

2) Bangladesh

M - 3, W - 1, L - 1, N/R - 1, Points: 3

What they must do: An England win over Australia will seal their spot in the semi-finals. If Australia win, they are knocked out of the tournament. A wash-out in the England vs Australia game will seal Bangladesh’s spot. Although Australia will end up with the same number of points and net run-rate with Bangladesh in case of a wash-out, Bangladesh’s victory over New Zealand will help them enter the semis

3) Australia

M - 2, W - 0, L - 0, N/R - 2, Points: 2

Matches remaining: vs England (June 10)

What they must do: Bangladesh’s win over New Zealand has compounded the woes for Steve Smith’s side. Their last game against England is a must-win. A loss or a wash-out will see them eliminated. The weather forecast for the game in Edgbaston is not too promising.

4) New Zealand

M - 3, W - 0, L - 2, N/R - 1, Points: 1

What they must do: New Zealand are the first team to be eliminated in this tournament. This is the first time that they have exited an ICC event without a single victory.

Group B

1) India

M - 2, W - 1, L - 1, Points: 2

Matches remaining: vs South Africa (June 11)

What they must do: For India, the equation is simple. A loss against South Africa and they are eliminated. A win will see them progress to the semi-finals. A wash-out could still see them progress to the semi-finals provided the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan game is affected by rain as well. If the South Africa match is washed out and Sri Lanka vs Pakistan sees a full match, India might still go through as they have a great net run-rate.

2) South Africa

M - 2, W - 1, L - 1, Points: 2

Matches remaining: vs India (June 11)

What they must do: Their last game against India is a must-win. If they lose, they are out. If the match vs India is washed out, they must hope that the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan game is also rained out if they have to qualify for the semi-final

3) Sri Lanka

M - 2, W - 1, L - 1, Points: 2

Matches remaining: vs Pakistan (June 12)

What they must do: Their game against Pakistan is a must-win. If they lose, they will be eliminated. If it is a wash-out, they will still be eliminated as they have a poor net run-rate.

4) Pakistan

M - 2, W - 1, L - 1, Points: 2

Matches remaining: vs Sri Lanka (June 12)

What they must do: Their last game against Sri Lanka is a must-win. A loss or a washout will see them getting eliminated from the tournament.
