Yakshagana Talamaddale week to get underway from November 9

MANGALURU, Nov 6 : Yakshangana, Mangaluru in association with Mangalore University Dr Dayanand Pai and Sri P Satish Pai Yakshagana Study Centre, and Karnataka Yaksha Bharathi, Puttur is jointly organising Yakshagana Talamaddale week 2014 at Ravindra Kalabhavan, University College from November 9 to 15. Yakshara Chenna, a commemorative book will be released and late Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty award will conferred during this week.

Yakshagana talamaddale - Rukmangada, Bali (in Tulu), Bhageeratha, Nala, Harishchandra, Sri Rama, and Yudhishtira - Yakshaprashne will be held during the week. Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has collaborated in readying the ’Bali’ prasanga. Talamaddale is dedicated to memory of senior yakshagana organisers including Malavoor Ramanna Rai, Alape Srinivas Bhat, and arthadaaris K Kantha Rai, R B Bhoja Acharya and others.

P Dayanand Pai, managing director Century group of institutions, Bengaluru will inaugurate the talamaddale week. A J Shetty, managing trustee, Sri Manjunatha Temple, Kadri wll preside. Mahabala Marla, Mayor will release Yakshara Chenna. K Chinappa Gowda, director of the Study Centre will deliver key-note address. T Shyam Bhatt, commissioner, BDA will confer the award on Polya Laxmi Narayana Shetty, senior bhagawatha at the valedictory function to be held on November 15.
