MANGALURU: A murder accused was brutally hacked to death at Kannur in the outskirts of the city on Friday.

The deceased is Ijaz, 23, resident of Adyar. He was the prime accused in the murder of a person identified as Sannaputta alias Abdul Rahiman.

The incident happened at 10.50am. Ijaz was in a saloon getting a shave. A six member gang entered the saloon and hacked him to death with lethal weapons on his face and body. The victim died on the spot. The attack was so brutal that Ijaz’s face was disfigured and beyond recognition. His left leg was severed and the whole body bore deep cut marks indicating the brutality of the attack.

The cinema-like murder led to a tense situation in the area and police had problems containing the crowd. Police suspect that it is a revenge murder as Ijaz had allegedly murdered Sannaputta, 24, at Kannur Check Post on March 12, 2012. Ijaz had escaped arrest and had got bail.

This was not the first attempt on Ijaz’s life. Twice he had escaped attacks and third attack proved deadly. His routine proved his nemesis for Ijaz.
